I have been drawing since I was old enough to hold a pencil. I grew up in Southern California and moved to Northern California to attend the San Francisco Art Institute. I studied drawing and painting and made San Francisco my home for the next 20 years. I was a cabinetmaker and trade show exhibit builder. I moved to Petaluma in 1990, working as a graphic artist for technology companies. I mastered Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. I taught Photoshop at the College of Marin from 1995 to 2000. I taught Digital Media at Napa New Technology High School from 2004 to 2006.

Though I explored methods of using the computer to make art, I noticed that people respond much more strongly to the hand drawings that fill many notebooks. I decided to explore and develop the techniques that fascinated me as a child. I was crazy about square rigged sailing ships, steam boats, railroads, the civil war, and science fiction by Jules Verne and H.G.Wells. I studied old woodcuts and copperplate engravings and illustrations from classic children’s books like Alice in Wonderland and the Wizard of Oz books. I use the old styles and techniques to make my own imaginary worlds and see where it takes me.
